Invisalign Treatment Steps
The first braces step is an initial consultation to discuss your goals and determine if you are a good candidate for Invisalign. Your doctor will take X-rays, digital scans and impressions (moulds) of your teeth. These will create a 3D model of your teeth which will help your doctor develop a customized treatment plan.
A series of custom aligners will then be created for you based on your specific needs. This process can take between six to 12 months on average.
During the course of your Invisalign treatment, you will wear your aligners daily (except for when you’re eating or drinking!) until your teeth have straightened to their final positions. Regular check-ups with your dentist are essential to ensure that your treatment is on track to reach its desired results. Your doctor may need to tweak your treatment plan or order more aligners if you’re not seeing the expected results.
Invisalign Treatment Steps: What to Expect From Start to Finish
Maintaining proper oral hygiene is also important during this time, including brushing and flossing your teeth regularly, avoiding sugary or acidic foods and drinks, and rinsing your mouth with water after meals. Your doctor will provide you with a detailed oral care regimen and recommendations to make sure your teeth stay healthy and your Invisalign treatment goes as planned. Once your treatment is complete, your doctor will recommend wearing retainers to help ensure that your new smile lasts.
